Psychotherapy is merely a type of conversation, in which my patients and I strive to create a safe place to look at the problems and conflicts in their lives. This process assists them in coping with stressful situations, experiencing life more fully, enhancing relationships, healing past hurts, and finding new direction.
I work with people of all backgrounds, ethnicities, religions and sexual orientations.
My patients may be experiencing distress associated with any emotional or psychological problem:
Psychoanalysis is an intensive form of therapy that involves multiple meetings per week.
The underlying principle is that people are often motivated by emotions or assumptions of which they are often unaware. These unconscious parts of ourselves can cause distress, maladaptive personality traits, worry, depression, relationship problems, low self-esteem and many other kinds of difficulties.
The psychoanalytic process helps us see how these unconscious aspects affect our relationships and behavior patterns, in order to more effectively deal with and enjoy life.
When necessary, I prescribe medications to help patients with symptoms such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, and lack of concentration.
I typically use medications to complement therapy; the combination can facilitate the therapy process and healing.
